TAILWHEEL
TRAINING

Tailwheel proficiency and skill opens a new world of to pilots. Increased prop clearance provides access to terrain few other vehicles can reach. Additionally the skills gained make pilots safer and more proficient across all aircraft types. TacAero has created programs that help students master the art of flight, producing safer, highly skilled aviators. There are no substitutes for tailwheel training and the skills acquired while learning. Our tailwheel endorsement and advanced training programs will be one of the best additions to your current skill set and not only make you a safer pilot but also open the door to a ton of fun.

BASIC
TAILWHEEL

TacAero’s Basic Tailwheel Course is intended to get pilots their initial Tailwheel Endorsement or a Tailwheel Refresher and a thorough introduction to Tailwheel Flying. Initial tailwheel training is conducted in our fleet of CubCrafters Top Cubs (CC18-180). The Basic Tailwheel Course consists of 3 days training with 8 hours flight time and 5 hours of a structured ground school as well as extensive pre/post flight briefings. The course is proficiency based and total flight duration  will  depend on pilot skill level. You will be provided with all course material including a full student pack, kneeboard, checklists and reading/ study material. All that you are required to bring is your pilots logbook and valid pilots certificate.

Intermediate
Tailwheel

Our Intermediate Tailwheel Course is aimed at pilots looking to achieve both their initial tailwheel endorsement (or refresher) PLUS an introduction to advanced tailwheel and backcountry flying. Basic and Advanced tailwheel training is conducted in our fleet of CubCrafters Top Cubs (CC18-180). The Course includes the Basic Tailwheel Course over 3 days plus 2 days of Advanced Training. The course consists of 15 hours flight time and 10 hours of a structured ground school as well as extensive pre/post flight briefings.

ADVANCED
TAILWHEEL

In our Advanced Tailwheel Operations Course, experienced tailwheel aviators hone their skills and master their craft. By recognizing subtle cues from the aircraft and combining authoritative yet smooth control inputs, you’ll start to experience the airplane’s full capability —often called upon in backcountry flying. In addition you will spend a day and get to experience High Performance Tailwheel Aircraft in our 215hp XCub. During this course you will learn advanced techniques for managing strong crosswinds, operating from short fields, and soft fields, and handling emergencies that may arise during critical flight profiles. You will master precision landings, with and without power, and touchdown where you intend—every time. Also, if you’re excited to experience big tires in remote locations (and who isn’t), this advanced training fosters the expertise necessary to progress to the backcountry.
