The Backcountry Pilot Training Program is a training course that transforms experienced tailwheel pilots into elite backcountry aviators. We teach our students the art and science of navigating mountain terrain and weather patterns, allowing them to safely plot a course through the mountain ranges, rather than just simply fly over them. We train them how to safely maneuver their aircraft within confined areas, enabling them to explore distant canyonlands. We instruct them how to safely conduct off-airport operations; giving them unimpeded access to isolated beaches, secluded gravel bars, and remote mountain ridges.
Students must understand that this type of advanced training is demanding. It takes time and dedication to master the essential skills required to travel safely through these unforgiving environments. Aviators who embrace the challenge are rewarded with access to the world’s most remote and magnificent wilderness areas that remain inaccessible by any other means. Prerequisites for this course are 100 hours tailwheel, 5 in the previous 90 days OR Completion of TacAeros Advanced Tailwheel Course.
